The
Truffle Shuffle Turns 30: Anniversary Celebration for The Goonies in Historic Astoria, Ore.
– Fans Return to Filming Location to Commemorate Cult Classic in 2015 – Eager to relive one of the most beloved coming-of-age stories of the 1980s, an estimated 12,000 to 15,000 fans flocked to historic Astoria, Ore., to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the cult classic film The Goonies, June 4-7, 2015. During the four-day event, Goonies fans were able to tour iconic film locations, bowl at “Chunk’s Bowling Alley,” attend costumed quote-a-long film screenings, sip and nosh on Goonies themed menus, and adventured on a scavenger hunt supported by Geocaching.com. The VirtuaLUG builders group, all of whom are Adult Fans of LEGO (or AFOLs), recreated iconic scenes from The Goonies in a diorama that was on display at the event headquarters, aka The Goondocks, alongside two dozen vendors offering 80s and other pop-culture themed collectibles and original art. Official 30th Anniversary memorabilia, including t-shirts, hats, glassware, collectibles and more were available at the event and continue to be offered in our store while supplies last. Explore the pages in the drop down menu above to learn more about the Celebration's activities and special guests. The organizational team of staff from the Astoria Warrenton Chamber of Commerce and Oregon Film Museum and community volunteers led the event planning and were supported by volunteers that filled more than 600 shifts during the event.
